Why I'm Doing This
Boxing has given me everything. It taught me discipline, resilience, and how to carry myself through life. Now I want to give that back. I’m doing this with Pro Project Promotions because I see the hunger in young fighters. I’ve been where they are. I know what it takes, and I want to help them avoid the mistakes, stay focused, and reach their full potential.
Career Highlights
Winning Olympic gold in 2008 will always be one of the proudest moments of my life. I followed that by becoming the first British fighter to win both Olympic and professional world titles. I held the IBF super-middleweight belt and shared the ring with top names around the world. I fought in Las Vegas, New York, and London. Every fight was a lesson. Every title meant something more.
Life After Boxing
Retiring from the ring wasn’t easy, but it gave me space to reflect and reset. Life after boxing has been about finding new purpose. I’ve stayed close to the sport, working with young athletes, doing commentary, and exploring new challenges outside the gym. But training fighters brings me the most satisfaction. It keeps me sharp, keeps me connected, and keeps me passionate.
The Challenges I've Faced
Injuries were a constant battle, especially towards the end. Shoulder surgery. Setbacks. Tough losses. And mentally, it can be hard when the spotlight fades. But those challenges shaped me. They taught me humility, patience, and perspective. That’s why I relate to fighters who are struggling. I’ve lived it. I know the highs and the lows, and that’s exactly what makes me stronger as a coach and mentor today.
