Helping Hands supports children with cancer and their families at Barnet Hospital by funding joyful experiences, practical support, and meaningful moments of care.
The Helping Hands Fund was launched in 2015 to support the incredible children receiving cancer treatment at Barnet Hospital’s Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Unit. These children and their families are our heroes. The team at Barnet is small but dedicated, made up of specialist doctors, nurses, and a co-ordinator who are committed to giving the very best care every single day.
With funds raised through Helping Hands, we aim to make each child’s journey as positive as possible. Donations help us provide things like iPads for hospital stays, essential hospital bags for families, entertainers, and educational resources. They also allow us to fund special moments, summer and winter parties, cinema trips, family days out, and even soft play and inflatable parties for children who usually miss out on the fun.
Join us for a special evening dedicated to raising funds and awareness for Children with Cancer UK and Playskill, where every contribution helps make a lasting impact.
£500,000
Children undergoing treatment for cancer are incredibly vulnerable and often isolated due to their compromised immune systems. Many of the everyday joys and social activities healthy children enjoy are simply out of reach. Helping Hands allows us to bring some of those experiences to them, safely and memorably.
We’ve used the fund to hire out KidZania for private play, run our own inflatable fun days, organise pantomime trips, and create safe spaces where children can just be children again. Every event, every gift, every smile made possible by Helping Hands is a step toward giving these young people some light in a difficult time. This fund lives on in memory of the angels who left us too soon, their families remain part of our story.
Helping Hands sits under the Royal Free Charity, meaning all donations go directly to the children we support. The charity’s wider mission is to improve every patient’s experience across Barnet, Chase Farm, and Royal Free hospitals, through volunteers, better equipment, and funding vital research. Please support us and help bring some sparkle to the journey of a child facing cancer.
